This bass (El Torpedo Uno) was the start of the whole thing. A musician friend of mine aproached me to help him out with a custombuild lefthanded foldable guitar, cause he knew i was a skilled woodworker with a background in physics and mechanical engineering. So we got talking… But beeing a musician, ofcourse he had money nor technical understanding. And since i lacked experience as a ‘luthier’ and was a kind of wild rover those days the project got kind of stuck. Then this other friend, who’s a bassplayer and slightly more realistic, sitting next to us at the bar some time later says: “maybe you can help me out then, ‘cause i’m in search for a good bass. So now we got talking and he tells me what he thinks he wants. But i knew what he needed and in the end i came up with this thing:

a long scale 5 -string with short string distance and a complex ‘El Torpedo’ body structure to have a bass with a quick respons and a very good sustain, something you usualy have to choose from. Without getting ‘pulpy’…

So if you know someone in the need of an instrument with “unmatchable” or “impossible” specs, please contact me ‘cause that’s what i do… Besides i try the pieces to look good aswell. That’s what the slogan ‘When just tackling is not sufficient; El Torpedo” is all about…
